The heart of our community is the worship of God. Worship is our response to what God has done for us in Jesus Christ. We believe wherever we each are on our life journey, that when we gather together in worship, God meets us. In worship we come to encounter God and watch together for God’s presence in Scripture, our own lives, and the world around us. We are strengthened and nourished in Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to participate with God in loving and healing the world.
Worship involves our whole selves and all our senses – so our worship is expressed through song and silence, prayer, preaching, art, music and participation by young and old alike. When we gather to worship we come as we are bringing our talents, gifts, questions, doubts, joys, fears and we are welcomed in the presence of God.

What is worship like?
Our worship service at 11:00 on Sunday mornings is rooted in the Reformed tradition, Biblical in shape and substance and centered in the grace of God revealed in Jesus Christ. Presbyterians believe that music plays a vital role in worship, and at Sashabaw we offer a variety of styles from classical to contemporary and opportunities for the sharing of gifts and talents from the youngest to the oldest members. Each week is different: violin, harp, electric, folk and classical guitar, piano to name a few. The basic order of our services follows the Book of Common Worship yet within that familiar framework there is variety and innovation. Presbyterian worship seeks to express something of the majesty and wonder of the God we worship, drawing from the rich traditions of two thousand years of Christian worship and liturgy. Our services, through praise, prayer, song, sermon and sacrament, seek to worship God with the dignity and reverence due to Him, and yet to do so with the warmth and joy that Jesus Christ brings to life. This service usually is an hour to an hour and 15 minutes in length.
Our worship services at 6:00 on Saturday evenings are based upon the ancient Christian Service of Light. These services are more reflective in nature and are based upon a theme in keeping with the church year. Those attending will enter to find the sanctuary dimly lit and quiet so that those who wish to have a space for prayer and meditation may gather early. The lighting of the Christ Candle signals the beginning of this service. The service consists of prayer, the psalms, a meditation and opportunity for reflection. This service is usually 30 to 45 minutes in length.
Children are welcome
and encouraged to attend all of our gatherings of worship. We offer a comfortable rocking chair area in the sanctuary for use by parents and young children may find it more comfortable to sit or lay on the floor in our cozy corner. We take seriously Jesus words: “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” – Matthew 19:14
